Choosing the Right Bike for You

Many reasons will push you to choose a bicycle as a new mode of transportation. There are many different reasons to cycle, and some have nothing to do with being a preferred method of getting to point A to point B. Lots of people go cycling as a form of exercise. Some people cycle as a competitive sport. And there are others that simply want a way to bond with their family, so they take up cycling. Whatever the reason you have for wanting a cycling bicycle, there are a lot of different things to consider when you are trying to decide which cycling bicycle is right for you. We’d be misleading you if we didn’t admit that fashion does impact your decision. We all like one color or style more than another. When choosing your bike you shouldn't ignore them. Obviously, the style and fashion elements of the bicycle should not be your top priority (unless the bicycle is just for show). Evaluating your choices according to safety and comfort will be the best first step. Then, when safety and comfort have been secured, choose your favorites according to their visual appearance.

For road bikes take away 9 inches from the total of your inseam. This is because of the size of the tires on your road bike. These tires will be thinner and designed for efficiency on concrete roads or pavements. For a mountain bike you will need to take 12" away from your total inseam. This is because the tires of a mountain bike are different than those on a road bike. Mountain bike tires are thicker than road bike tires, designed for rocky terrain. You can use mountain bikes for city cycling, but the opposite is not true and they are nowhere near as good on city streets as road bikes.

The number of gears you’ll use will also affect your choice. If you plan to ride in rocky or mountainous areas, you’ll need more gears than riding on flat land. Just because a bike has more gears doesn't make it better. Sometimes bike riders don’t ever use all the gears on their bike. It’s a waste of money to pay for all those unused gears. If your bike is going to be the main means of travel for you, you absolutely must get the number of gears you need for the situations in which you’ll ride.

When looking for a bike your main goal is to find one that suits you go to the website physically. When deciding upon using a bike for transportation you need to keep this in mind. You need to feel safe but also comfortable on your bike, otherwise you won't enjoy riding it!
